  1. Hi Nancy:
I’m a friend of your Dad’s (and later, your Mom’s). Your grandparents were my Aunt Helen and Uncle Bill, and my parent’s were John’s Aunt Helen and Uncle Frank Mellinger, although we weren’t really related. We spent summer vacations in Ocean City Maryland. John would sing for us before dinner and I still remember the songs.
It seems we are both YA writers.
John sent me the link to your website. I loved the Gorilla Kindness article–it made me cry! And I want to congratulate you on the almost publication of SAY MY NAME.

That’s huge!! Fantastic!! You should be proud of yourself!

I was unable to find a publisher for my book (over 70 agent queries), and, like you, I got very used to rejection. But my editor insisted that it was a great story and as good or better than anything out there and suggested that I self publish it–so I did.

Looking forward to reading your book. I have a friend/client who is a speech therapist and I know she’ll buy it and hopefully recommend it to others.

    Best Regards,
    Chrissy LaVielle

    • Hi Chrissy –
Thank you for your congrats and encouragement! Of course I remember Aunt Helen and Uncle Frank, whom we lovingly called Uncle Scrub Brush as you probably know.
And congratulations to you on your book as well. I’ll have to hop over to your website and check it out!
Best wishes and it is so nice to hear from you.
      Nancy
